The Blue Ridge Disc Golf Club was formed by a group of people interested in disc golf who wanted to bring the sport to Central Virginia. The group had its first formal meeting on February 8, 2002, and decided on its charter and rules and voted in its first officers. The club has constructed four courses:
Walnut Creek Park (opened 2002)
Greene County Community Park (opened 2004, redesigned 2022)
Meadowcreek Gardens (opened August 2015)
Chris Greene Lake Park (opened April 2023)
Club members have also been involved in designing and building several of Virginia's disc golf courses; Staunton's Kiwanis (public), Piedmont Virginia Community College (public), Blue Ridge School (private), Shenandoah County Park (public), and Williamsburg's New Quarter Park (public).
